In 2021, Nizhny Novgorod celebrated its 800th anniversary. At the initiative of the administration of Nizhny Novgorod, major projects were implemented in the city for architectural and artistic lighting of iconic streets and objects. Among them is the lighting project for the Molitovsky Bridge.

The main idea of the lighting concept is based on work with arched spans and internal structural elements of the bridge. Arched spans, as the main dominant elements of the structure, are illuminated by powerful spotlights with a neutral colour temperature of 4000K, which create an optimal soft shade that does not cause sharp contrasts and visual discomfort, and sufficiently uniform lighting emphasizes all the plasticity and dynamics of monumental arched structures.

The internal structures of the bridge are illuminated with 3000K warm glow spotlights. Thus, we tried to visually diversify the static lighting of the bridge and integrate it as much as possible into the city's overall colour and light landscape, which also has many different shades of white light.

During the implementation of the project, the task of forming a unified visual perception of the architectural ensemble for different viewpoints was solved to preserve the integral image of the bridge, harmoniously fitting it into the evening light environment.
