For any open space, it is important to create not only a recognizable, individual appearance, but also the formation of such a structure of the urban environment that could make the place memorable, understandable for residents and guests, and give the urban environment some zest. The Timansky ravine, which connects the two parts of the city, has a pronounced perspective relief, its picturesque landscape with a small stream is a piece of nature in the center of the city.

The lighting concept includes an integrated approach to lighting using the ethnic identity of the region, its history, and everyday life. All types of lighting are used in the project, taking into account the zoning and destination of places, as well as with a detailed example of use and justification of the decisions made.

Working on the project, our team not only developed a comprehensive solution for the lighting environment of the ravine, but also created a certain standard that should be understood and taken into account when designing and implementing lighting of the ravine for third-party companies and will be an integral part in the further planning and design of fragments of the urban environment of Vorkuta.

Russian Lighting Design 2024 Winner "Design project: the concept of an urban lighting environment"

The main route

Good lighting of the main pedestrian route and bike paths passing around the park should ensure the safe movement of pedestrians and athletes at night. The illumination is organized using modern high-performance LED lights.

The lamps should create a normal level of visibility, have good color reproduction and not dazzle traffic participants.

Eco trail

The ecotrope and the descents into the ravine are illuminated by high bollards with a color temperature of 3000 K and a cosine light distribution directed into the lower hemisphere.

A sufficiently large distance between the lamps is due to the fact that their purpose is uneven illumination of paths, and orientation of people in space in the evening.

Thus, an atmosphere close to untouched nature will be created in the center of the ravine.

Open spaces.

Idea

The national art of Komi is rich in content.

According to their mythology, the world consists of three parts: the upper world (where gods lived, birds flew and the sun shone), the middle world (the world of animals and people) and the lower world (fish and spirits who personified material values and the underworld)

We suggest using ornaments in the lighting concept to emphasize the importance of the Komi national art and to remind of its uniqueness.

Color plays an important role in the culture of different peoples. Komi has no common color values, but, as a rule, red was considered a talisman. So, in order to emphasize the originality of the Komi culture, the red color appeared in the concept among the white architectural lighting.

With the help of unique floor lamps, the individuality of this space is emphasized, in which people will feel as comfortable and inspired as possible.

During the day, the lamps will not attract attention due to the alternation of wooden supports and trees. But at night, on the contrary, they are designed to attract attention with their patterns and warm light streaming through the carving of the lampshades, creating a play of light and shadow on the paving slabs.
